I am offering one Harris Platinum I Channel 2 solid-state amplifier module for the amateur-radio builder who wants a serious 6-meter RF project based on commercial broadcast hardware.
These modules were removed from service when analog television transmitters were replaced by digital equipment. The Channel 2 design is suited to the 50-MHz amateur band and contains four combined quarter-modules, commercial RF combining networks, heavy-duty heat sinking, and protection circuitry.
This is commercial broadcast surplus hardware and is not a plug-and-play amateur amplifier. The buyer will need to provide or build a suitable high-current DC power supply, forced-air cooling, control and sequencing wiring, RF connections, and a proper high-power 6-meter low-pass filter.
A low-pass filter is essential because the raw amplifier does not provide sufficient harmonic suppression for direct connection to an antenna. This project is intended for an experienced RF builder who understands the hazards of high voltage, high current, and high-power RF.
